Prospective Members
Join a group of hundreds of doctors who share your goals and passions of raising the standards of care for patients with diseases affecting the liver pancreas and biliary system. The AHPBA is an organization where you can exchange your ideas, concerns and enthusiasm with other doctors who have your interests in common.
The AHPBA has annual meetings, educational sessions and courses to increase your awareness of what is happening in our field of surgery. Patient care changes everyday and the AHPBA helps you and other surgeons like you keep up with the fast paced changes.
Some benefits of membership are intangible, like the friendships that you will gain, but a membership in AHPBA also gives you a subscription to the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, the official journal of the society. You will also receive a monthly electronic newsletter and discounts on registration for the bi-annual meetings. Please visit the website often for society updates.
The AHPBA was inaugurated on November 12, 1994 in Chicago, Illinois. It has grown from a handful of surgeons interested in HPB surgery to a membership of over 500 today. The society has presented four bi-annual meetings, participated in a consensus conference on cancer staging and runs an annual PG course with the AASLD (American Association for Study of Liver Disease) each Fall.
